Getting to your destination can be daunting, boring & uncomfortable. Here are some tips to help take your mind off the slow ticking clock, engine rumbling & obnoxious travel stranger beside you.

  1. Charge up your tablet or laptop before you leave home. Download a movie or two, a series, or podcasts. Start a new book from your reading list. Crossword or Suduko book. Dont forget your glasses!

  1. If easily distracted, bring along earplugs and eye masks.

  1. Don’t forget the neck pillow that fits in a small bag to hang off your luggage when not in use.

  1. Pack gum, breath mints, ginger chews for possible nausea, wrist bands for boating.

  1. If you are crafty, bring along a small bag with your needlework (yes, knitting needles are allowed on flights.)

  1. Pack a small lunch bag with things that will keep you full & happy. Maybe some nuts, fruits without peels, protein bars, meat & cheese sticks, chocolate & olives, etc,. add a cold pack that will extend the cheese & fruit for a few hours. It can be reused during your day trips if you have a room fridge/freezer.

  1. Wear or pack a pashmina or thin throw for the unpredictable temperature differences throughout the ride. Make sure your shoes can slip on & off easily, and for those who have swelling issues, look into some comfortable compression socks.

8.  be sure to have lip & hand moisturizer & sanitizer. Bring a small pack of wipes to use on the eating tray & the surrounding seat area.

A Pack of tissues, portable toothbrush, floss, mini hair brush, eye drops, glasses, nail file, mini cuticle scissors & sewing kit. A smal umbrella is always a great item for the bag.

  1. Refillable lightweight water bottle

  2. your passport, license, some cash & credit cards. If going abroad, have about $100 euros in your wallet ( you can get it at your local bank.)

* Some have brought workout bands to use if not disturbing a fellow passenger. Make sure you get up at least every 1-2 hour to stretch or walk the aisle. it has been suggested that pumping your ankles/feet up & down will help with circulation.
